We continued celebrating Libbi's 2nd birthday with a party on Saturday morning. She was SO excited! Since I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and our lives are basically crazy and our house looks like someone considered robbing us, but just threw all of our things on the floor instead - I made the executive decision to have the party somewhere other than the place we call home. :) I've blogged about Imaginations at Play before, but unfortunately they are now closed! :( Lucky for us, we were the last birthday party they hosted so we were able to have the place all to ourselves (without having to pay the "private party fee")! :)
Libbi is really into Minnie Mouse right now, but if you know me, then you know that I am not a fan of "character themes." I know there will come a day when I won't be able to avoid them, but while I am still the official (or unofficial) party planner, I will limit the amount of mice, monsters, and other fictional characters in our decor. I'm not opposed to incorporating them, I just don't want to be overrun by tacky cutouts with humongous eyes watching me while I'm trying to host a party. Anyway, since she loves Minnie, we decided to go with a zebra and polka dot theme and add in little minnie's here and there. :)
Here are some of the highlights from her party....
The invitation:
the party room...
one of THE most important things - the food! :)
(i forgot to take a pictures of all the signs...there were also "minnie-ature muffins" and the drinks were, "bow-dacious beverages) ;-)
tablescape with centerpieces....
goody bags (i couldn't find any pink bags with white polka dots, so i just bought pink and put white "garage sale" dot stickers on them).
fun treats inside included: minnie mouse kazoo, mickey and minnie coloring sheet, minnie mouse crayons, personalized hershey bar, minnie mouse rice krispie treat, and minnie mouse bubbles.
the cake!! isn't it amazing?!? it was soooo good, too!
the guest of honor.
she pretty much ran wild the entire time - can you say, "sensory overload???" ;-)
some of libbi's sweet little friends (and ours, too!)
austin the artist
emma and alli
sweet sophie
sophie's big brother and resident "Cars" expert, Joey
cousin blakeley (who is now a big one-year-old!) and aunt mandie
libbi and avery showing off their dance skills
we tried to get a picture of everyone together (minus a few that had already left)
and it was pretty much impossible, but so funny :) i think there was a different kid either added or taken away in each shot - ha!
Libbi had such a great time and has talked about her "happy birthday" almost every day since. We were so blessed by everyone that came out to celebrate our girl! She was more than thankful for all of the generous gifts she received....and just a tad bit hyped up on sugar :)
the final post in the birthday trilogy (haha...I'm sure you're bored to tears by now, but this is for our memory's sake) is Libbi's two year old well visit....
